Protostellar outflows: a window to the past

چکیده
During the early phases of low-mass star formation, episodic accretion causes ejection high-velocity outflow bullets, which carry a fossil record driving protostar's history. We present 44 SPH simulations $1\,\mathrm{M}_{\odot}$ cores, covering wide range initial conditions, and follow cores for five free-fall times. Individual protostars are represented by sink particles, particles launch outflows using subgrid model. The Optics algorithm is used to identify individual bullets within outflows. parameters overall then estimate age energetics outflow, events that triggered it; evaluate how reliable these estimates are, if observational uncertainties selection effects (like inclination) neglected. Of commonly methods estimating ages, it appears those based on length speed advance lobe most in evolution, width cavity during later phases. describe new method almost as accurate methods, throughout evolution. In addition we show history protostar can be accurately reconstructed from dynamics each contains at least two bullets. entrain about ten times more mass than originally ejected protostar.

Temperature predictions for protostellar outflows
The acceleration mechanism for protostellar out-flows is still uncertain, despite many dynamical studies. Active acceleration processes are expected to heat the molecular gas, and it should be possible to choose between the possible out-flow models by excitation studies which measure the temperature of the molecular gas. We show how temperature predictions can be made from a simple bow-shock dr...

We report high-resolution mapping observations of the 2k–1k, 3k–2k, and 5k–4k thermal lines of CH3OH toward the young bipolar outflow driven by the Class 0 object NGC 1333/IRAS 2. Only weak emission has been detected towards the position of the central object, while strong methanol lines have been observed towards the endpoints of the outflow lobes, where the CH3OH abundance is enhanced by a fa...
متن کاملGiant protostellar outflows revealed by infrared imaging
We present new infrared data from a survey for embedded protostellar jets in the Orion A cloud. This survey makes use of the S(1) v = 1–0 line of molecular hydrogen at λ = 2.12 μm to search for infrared jets deep inside the cloud and thus hidden from view at optical wavelengths. We present data on the three flows associated with the Herbig-Haro objects HH 43/38 & HH 64, HH 65, and the L1641-N g...
متن کاملProtostellar Turbulence Driven by Collimated Outflows
The majority of stars are thought to form in clusters. Cluster formation in dense clumps of molecular clouds is strongly influenced, perhaps controlled, by supersonic turbulence. We have previously shown that the turbulence in regions of active cluster formation is quickly transformed by the forming stars through protostellar outflows, and that the outflow-driven protostellar turbulence is the ...
متن کاملHow Protostellar Outflows Help Massive Stars Form
We consider the effects of an outflow on radiation escaping from the infalling envelope around a massive protostar. Using numerical radiative transfer calculations, we show that outflows with properties comparable to those observed around massive stars lead to significant anisotropy in the stellar radiation field, which greatly reduces the radiation pressure experienced by gas in the infalling ...
